The largest newspaper in New England is safe, for now.  The owner, New York Times, and the Boston Newspaper Union reached a soft agreement early this morning to keep the paper running. 

Concessions include:

• substantial pay cuts
• unpaid furloughs
• changes in lifetime job guarantee provisions
